An Interior Designer / Interior Architect will work directly with the Partner-In-Charge of each project and develop the creative vision for the interior design and architecture of each project.
This is position is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for more creative control and a desire for professional growth in shaping the overall direction of the Interiors Department at Upland Design Group.
OBJECTIVES
Work under the supervision of the Principal and/or the Design Leader for key project stages to assist in the development of the interior design scope from the pre-design phase through construction administration - Participates in the design process.
Prepare and develop with the team, programming documents, space planning, program assessments of Client's needs, and drawings for schematic design, design development, and contract documents including developing design sketches, design concepts, vision boards, renderings, graphics, elevations, and details, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design, furniture layouts, finish plans, cost analysis, and furniture selection documents.
Application of design elements and principles based on simplicity, scale, color, form, texture, pattern, light, balance, and proportions as well as a passion for developing presentations.
Research interior finish materials and furniture selections and assist in development of specifications.
Collaborate across disciplines and departments to assist in well-coordinated and designed projects.
Work alongside and understand the functional organization of the project team.
Perform general office responsibilities (library and material upkeep, assist in developing project/BIM standards, assist and participate in professional development programs, etc.).
Participate in cross-discipline career development.
qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, from an accredited school.
5-8+ years of relevant professional design experience in a professional interior design practice.
Preparation of conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents and materials.
Experience in FF&E option-making, mood boards, material selections, and specification process.
Ability to develop, communicate and present design concepts to their team.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent graphic presentation skills.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite. Additional 3D visualization techniques encouraged.
Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Capable of handling multiple projects at the same time.
Completed or interest in completing professional certifications; NCIDQ exams.
