Southern System School (South Fentress Elementary)

Southern Systems Schools in Fentress County houses kindergarten through

eight grade students.  It replaced and consolidated two separate schools: 

Grimsley and Clarkrange.  Before this school, Clarkrange's Junior High students

were attending the High School which was often problematic.  With the

consolidation within the new facility, worn out buildings were replaced and the

junior high student population was together in one place allowing for a better use

of resources and functional spaces.  An interior playroom which allows a safe place

to play in inclement weather has been highly praised by the facility.  With all of

Upland Design Group's new school facilities, easy future expansion is a major

design consideration allowing this facility to meet the community's needs for many

years to come.
